Seesmic Desktop rolled out a popular Twitter client based on Adobe Air come up with a Web Based app for Twitter. Recently TweetDeck rolled a iPhone app and new desktop app. However Seesmic is also focusing on the iPhone App and soon it will gonna hit the market. when? we don't know yet.

With the web version they also roll up Seesmic Desktop version 0.4 with improved UI. I must say Seesmic Desktop UI improved too much time by time in each new version. but the most excitement thing is not the new Seesmic Desktop but it's the new web version.

Let's take a in depth review of Seesmic Web version.

Do we need Web version?

My answer is yes because Twitter's own web version is not fully featured and compact. Compared to Twitter Seesmic provides more features such as search monitoring within the app, timeline, @reply(Mention), DM, and the interface is similar like Seesmic desktop.

its too easy to use, you do not have to installing anything in the browser. No Adobe Air, No plugin, no addons, Just type www.seesmic.com/web into any browser address bar and get started.

It using the oAuth Authentication for the web version so you don't have to provide your password and username to seismic but just need to authorized them to stream your twitter account updates.

After doing the oAuth step you can add up your favorite search keywords in the web app so you can see what people are saying about your brand on twitter and that's not it it's to easy to follow and unfollow the people on Seesmic Web. Just hover the mouse courser to any profile and seesmic will display some basic information like profile link, follwing count, follower count and facility to follow or unfollow the people with in the web app!!

It also show that the number of messages you sent and received to a particular person and by clicking on particular line it also show a bubble type conversation which is easy to understand. it also show color coding for undear masseges in timeline too.

It showing the twitter updates near to real time and you can twist the UI in compact mode that look similar to co-tweet UI and column mode that smiler to Seesmic Desktop. that's not it, Seesmic web app also giving you the flexibility to chose which to show compact and which into row!!

Well, still not all Seesmic Desktop features are available in web app like user groups, short url service integration, image sharing integration like TwitPic, Moby picture etc. and right now main feature is needed that would be sync of web app and Desktop app settings but Seesmic will incorporate the all features in further update, I think.

Seesmic is also working on iPhone app as I already mentioned. it's a great thing from seesmic to have a Desktop, Web and an mobile app in a product portfolio. we need to see what TweetDeck is reacting by this new updates from Seesmic !

Last January YouTube introduced video website especially for people who wanted to access YouTube videos through their Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii game consoles. Just as there's a YouTube browser for mobile devices, the new YouTube XL is optimized for watching YouTube videos on any large screen.

Few days ago online video site Hulu launched a desktop application that makes it easy to find and view web videos on a television set, Now same kind of approach YouTube takes, New site designed to look good and be easy to navigate on any TV hooked up to a computer with a web browser.

And since it should work on any device with a web browser, you should be able to use YouTube XL with video game consoles that have web browsers, like the Nintendo Wii.

In addition to an all new design offering large text and simplified navigation, YouTube XL offers a continuous play feature, which lets you search for a topic on YouTube and then press "play" once to watch all of the videos sequentially on that topic. Also, getting from one video to the next takes just a few clicks, and you can control the action with a blue tooth enabled remote control, or even some mobile phones.

With millions of HD playbacks daily, YouTube is now bringing popular YouTube favorites vedios to the big screen in HD. It works out routines with the screen out of high-kick range, university lectures where you can read the blackboard, and home videos the whole family can watch together.

If you're using zoho mail you're having the option to open your email attachments like docs, spreadsheets & presentation with Zoho applications - writer, Sheet and Show respectively. Previously, the attachments were opened in a new browser tab but now you can open email attachments as a tab within Zoho Mail. This is the great way to open attachment without leaving the application

Compose Window in a TAB

When you compose a mail now, it opens in a new tab within Mail similar to attachments. you also able to pop it out in a new window. Now you can insert tables, inline images and smileys into your email so now you can compose your important email, check your inbox & see the attachment at the same time with the new functionality.

Some people like folders like yahoo already have & some people like label function like Gmail where you can assign multiple labels to an email but many things are missing in both email applications &I think zoho mail justify that gap

Recently Zoho added mobile support. Zoho Mail now supports Google Chrome browser. It already support support FireFox and IE. Safari support coming soon.
Mozilla's "Web application as a desktop application" service Prism has rolled out version 1.0. On Friday, the company released it with its own standalone site, and an updated API that lets developers tack on Prism-specific features to their Web applications.

Prism let you run your favorite website or web app as a desktop application, like you can run Gmail as a standalone application or run WeboLobby as a standalone News reader application. the best thing is you're getting a separate processes for each and every application you're running so in event of crash or memory hog you just have to close only the cozing application, not like entire browser, in FireFox.

The updated version includes several new features, like tray icon notification support, and application-specific settings such as fonts and proxies. Automatic updates like in FireFox browser. You can also choose a custom icon instead of site's favicon. you're also now able to clear private data like user names and passwords, along with any browsing history. same as FireFox providing right now. I was, however, only able to assign a custom icon successfully with the Prism app itself, not via the FireFox addon. Not a huge problem, since you can always select a new icon from your shortcut's properties dialog. New version comes in two flavors, FireFox browser add on or standalone application that you need to install first into your system.

Google is signing up 3,000 business users to Google Apps every day. More & more people are coming to Google Apps but before that all senior business people do use Blackberry with service like push email, Calendar,IM, SMS so to connect Blackberry users with Google Apps today Google announce Google Apps Connector for BlackBerry® Enterprise Server.

By this new software component will make it even easier for mobile users to use Google Apps on BlackBerry® smartphones. It allows users to access Gmail, Google Calendar and Contacts using the built-in BlackBerry smart phone applications they already popular.

So what are the main features ?
  • Mail is pushed to your device so fast email access.
  • Messages read on your BlackBerry show up as "Read" in Gmail, and vice versa.
  • Messages deleted on your BlackBerry are deleted in Gmail, and vice versa.
  • Synced between your BlackBerry and Gmail contacts.
  • Select which folders and labels to sync.
  • one-way sync from Google Apps to your BlackBerry device for Calenders (Two way is coming)

Users can also access the email addresses and phone numbers of their co-workers using a company wide Global Address List. Both personal and business contacts saved on Google Apps are automatically synchronized over the air to users' BlackBerry smartphones and integrated into the native Blackberry smartphone applications. To use it, you need BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server.), but not the Exchange Server. it uses a "native" synchronization protocol.

This feature will available for Google Apps Premier and Education Edition for free of cost in between July 2009.
You might have noticed that Google Docs, Picasa, Google Calendar and other services remember who you've shared with to make sharing easier the next time. If you're not using Gmail and its built-in contact manager though, you haven't been able to update people's contact information. That's why Google launched a standalone contact manager, which lets you manage your contacts even if you don't use Gmail.

The functionality of this standalone version Contact Manager is as same like Gmail contact manager. Purely Aimed at letting users share contacts more easily between different services. It lets you create groups, add multiple email, phone, or home addresses and even adjust chat preferences for your contacts. You can import and export your contacts from other sources such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Yahoo & Hotmail. It also suggest you contacts based on your communication preference.

In Google Apps this service was already there. To enable this service in Google Apps,Go to Dash Board for your Domain then just click on the link that says "Add more services" in the "Settings" section of the control panel. You'll then have the option to add this service. Here's a screenshot so you can see what it looks like:

With Help of Google latitude user can share location with friends. Yes till now you can able to share the location with friends only but now Google developed some application that allow to share the location publicly with anyone.

Till now user can use Latitude via mobile and iGoogle that lets you share your location with your friends Only, not with others who are not your friends and people were asking "What if I want to share my location with people who are not my Latitude friends?" To answer that, Today Google launch some application which enables user to share the location with anyone. Well it sounds cool. Let's see what application Google develop?

Google Talk Location Status (beta)

Share your Google Latitude location as your status message with all of your Google Talk or Gmail chat contacts, including anyone that can already chat with you so it will Automatically updates your status message with your current city's name as you move. What it means?

Simply if you're in New York then in your Google Talk, it will show the city name which is New York as a Status message.

But here, Your current city is shared with all of your Google Talk or Gmail Chat contacts openly so even if you hide from some of them in Google Latitude it will not work. For example, if you hide your location from a specific friend in Latitude, that friend may still be able to see your location in your Google Talk or Gmail chat status message if you have your location status enabled.

don't wanna share your location?

What if you don't wanna share your location? What if you don't wanna let your mom know that you're in pub? So to stop sharing location in your status message you have two options.

  • Or Clear your status message or change it to another saved or custom message to temporarily stop sharing your location as your status message.
To start using it again, you'll need to select it from your recently used status messages or use the "loc:on" shortcut.

Google Public Location Badge:

The Google Public Location Badge lets you publish your Latitude location on your blog or website. You can choose to show just the city that you are in or you can have your device's location detected automatically, using GPS, Wi-Fi, or cell tower ID, which provides a more specific location. You can also use a KML or JSON feed to create a custom experience in your own application. you can receive an email reminder that you are sharing your location publicly with your badge. You may choose to receive emails one, never, weekly, or monthly.

Here also your location will be shared publicly and you will not be able to control who can or cannot see it.

Don't wanna share your location?

Here also your location will be shared publicly and you will not be able to control who can or cannot see it. here the case is different. To stop sharing location the only way is that you disable the badge entirely or change its settings by going to http://www.google.com/latitude/apps/badge

But Once you create and publish the embedded badge HTML code on your website, anyone with access to your website could copy the code elsewhere so that your location is still accessible even after you remove the code from your site so to stop publicly broadcasting your location, you must go back to http://www.google.com/latitude/apps/badge and disable it as I already said and you may also want remove the code or feed from your site or application.

According to Google, These applications are only available in the US for now, but they'll soon be ready for all the same languages and countries that Google Latitude supports.
