Popular blog platform of Google's, Blogger, has just introduced a full-featured, real time stat service into the dashboard .

Though Google Analytics and many other third party tools are available to track Blogger.com's blog traffic, they mostly have to be configured by the user.
That's not the case with Bloggers analytics, which is pre-configured. The user has nothing to install or configure.

(Blogger States)

The coolest thing about the new Blogger Stats is that it monitors and analyzes your visitor traffic in real time, which technically is not possible with other tools not even in Google Analytics.

Users can see traffic of all posts; which site is sending most traffic; which popular search keywords attracting visitors; and, it also shows from which country the visitor is coming and browser info.Right now it's available for Blogger in Draft Service only but soon company will move this nifty feature to the main Blogger platform.

(Measure Map)

Anyone remember MeasureMap? For those that don't - Jeffrey Veen and Adaptive Path sold their analytics platform to Google over four year ago. The MeasureMap product was built mainly for blogger. It was a great opportunity for Google to improve its own analytics platform (Urchin), which is now known as Gogole Analytics.

As after the acquisition, people were guessing that Google would implement it with the Blogger.com, but they never did, till now.

Google Analytics is far more advanced and features rich data, but don't forget, Blogger Stats provides the data in real time and there's no coding.

To try out Blogger Stats, go to Blogger in Draft, and click on the new “Stats” tab.

What do you think of the new service? let us know in comments.

Google is known for its spare, clean search homepage, A single search box, two buttons.I've always liked the minimal Google.com homepage, but if you prefer a little spice to your search page (like Bing), you'll like Google's new background image feature.

Google Search -Custom background(Google Search - Custom background)

It's a simple enough feature that we've heard rumors of here and there: Just go to Google.com, move your mouse to the bottom left of the screen and click "Change background image." You can then select from a list of Editors' picks, pick any image from Google's public gallery hosted by Picasa, use something from your Picasa web album photos, or upload any image from your desktop.

Some claim that Google is copying Bing. First when Google updated their search with a left side panel similar to Bing's, and now with the addition of the big background image. Maybe; Bing is a successful product in the Microsoft portfolio and is grabbing more and more search share every day.

Bing and Google are not alone in the home page war, as Yahoo is taking on Google with a new ad against Google homepage. Yahoo also bring its social networking focused homepage with its new revamp design where user can customize/add apps like Facebook updates, twitter updates, news, new site feed etc.

And don't forget the on going argument that white background of Google's home page wastes energy when compared to a black background. As part of green initiative addressing that fact, other engines like Blackel and Earthle emerged.
Over a year and a half ago Google launched Gmail Labs. A platform where Google engineers can come up with new features for Gmail and add it to Gmail Labs where millions of users can grab it for enhanced user experience and for user its a new thing to try out. Gmail Labs, was one of the important and probably the best move from Google which is very popular among the users now a days.

Till now, there are 60 Labs features available in Gmail, where many features are very useful and some are not. It's a total opt-in and customized feature, so user can activate or deactivate according to there usage patterns.

The early bird were Gmail Task and offline Gmail who graduate first from the labs & Right-side Labels was first to retire. Today, another six are graduating and five are retiring from Gmail Labs.

Graduating:
  1. Search Autocomplete
  2. Go To Label
  3. Forgotten Attachment Detector
  4. YouTube Previews
  5. Custom Label Colors
  6. Vacation Dates
Retiring:
  1. Muzzle
  2. Fixed Width Font
  3. Email Addict
  4. Location in Signature
  5. Random Signature
According to Gmail team,These decisions were made based on usage and user feedback so some user may be loos their favorite lab feature or some will gain. Also, the graduates are getting new updates and tweake before, it becomes part of default Gmail features.
Let's see, what kind of updates graduates are getting.
Now Go To Label integrated with Search Auto-complete into the search box, so now you're able to search, from mail to contact names to labels.

Many times we all forget to attach a file to the email and send it then sheepishly send another email with the forgotten attachment. here, Forgotten Attachment Detector save you from that embarrassment. It looks for phrases in your email body and subject line, that suggest you meant to attach a file and alerts you if it looks like you forgot an attachment.

Probably, many of your friends often email you YouTube video links. Instead of having to clicking on the link and wait for a new window to load before you can watch the video, Gmail shows inline YouTube previews right below the message. All you have to do is click the play button and enjoy the video without leaving gmail.

Custom Label Colors, which allows you to assign custom color to labels and you can create color based labeling system in Gmail. there are around 4000 possible color combination to choose.

If you specify in advance that, on which dates you'll be away in vacation responder then, you won't have to remember to turn on the vacation responder. It will send automated emails on the specific date you already choose to your contacts.

According to Gmail, Over the next few days, you'll see Muzzle, Fixed Width Font, Email Addict, Location in Signature, and Random Signature stop working and disappear from the Labs tab and new graduate will be part of default Gmail so you won't be able to disable it.

Many user like the new graduates and many don't like it. personally I like the location based signature. It was a good feature, when you roam place to place, it adds location into your email as part of signature, unfortunately its going for retirement now. Which labs feature you like the most and which feature should Gmail add or bring back in Labs? Share your point of view with us, in comment.

Blogger updated it's Blog Post Editor with set of new features and new user interface as part of Blogger's 1oth anniversary. It looks nice and good in part of interface compared to the old Blog Post Editor and many new set of features have been added.

To get started just log in to your Blogger account and go to Settings of your blog from Dashboard > Now go to Basic > Under Global Settings you'll find Select post editor > from there select Updated editor and save. That's it. Now you're on New blogger Post Editor. You can switch back to old version any time by following the same step and select old editor.

So what's new in this Blog Post Editor?
  • First of all it having a new user interface that looks much batter then the old one.
  • You can resize the Blog Post area where the Body content appears. this is a very good feature. In old version user was not able to resize the window but here you can! so now no struggle for space, resize the window vertically as you like.
  • Now you can add direct links to the blog via Encloser link. By this user can easily embedding content like music/audio from third-party sites.

New Buttons like"Undo" "Redo", "Text background Color" and also added "strikethrough" button.

It also change the way it was handling images when user upload it. Previously user can add images via pop up window but now user can upload the image without leaving the page and in old editor when user upload the image that time only user need to decide the size of the image and place of the image whether it should appear left side, right side or canter but new editor allow user to change the image place and size after the uploading without using the HTML editor.

(Image Uploader Window)

( Resize the Image, Place the Image, Remove the Image )

Now user also able to handle the links much batter way without touching the HTML editor. user can change the url or body content of the link or even can remove the link on the fly. New Editor also show the preview page of the blogpost same way Image uploader window works, without leaving the post page.
Now it also support for Geotagign which attach the location based information to your blog post. You can use shortcuts in Editor like press Ctrl with: B for Bold, I for Italic, P for Publish, S for Save, D for Draft etc.

So over all Blogger's New Post Editor having good improvements like
  • Improved Image Handling
  • Improved Raw HTML
  • Geotagging
  • Resize the Post Editor Vertically
  • Easy Link Editing in Compose Mode
  • Better Previews
  • Draggable Placeholders
  • A New Advanced ToolBar
There are some draw backs for this new editor like not handling the Images batter way, mean to say you can't dragging pictures around a post like previously user could do in the old version but newer version refuses to do it. New version also remove the support for native spell checker, Mostly all modern browser do have inbuilt spell checker but it would be good if blogger re add that option again. another thing is user can't upload the images in batches that was available in previous version. Ofcourse new Blogger got many good things but it also need improvements like
  • Allow to add caption in images via the image uploader.
  • Able to instruct the link, it should open in new window or not.
  • Spell checker support
What you think of these new change? Do you have any batter suggestions. Do share your point of view in comments.

Recently Task feature was graduate from labs and it functionality working good where you can assign email as a task and also able to view via iGoogle, iPhone, web, Gmail and Google Calendar.

Now Gmail also allow you to share your task list via email to others. A speedy and simple way to share your list with your friends and co-workers or Family. Like most Tasks features, "Email task list" can be found in the Actions menu.

Clicking on it will open a new compose window with the contents of your current task list with the strick through task (completed Task) also. This works in all views like my order, sort by date, completed, so to email your mom a entire grocery list that you made for her, just choose "View completed tasks" from the Actions menu, then "Email task list" and send away.

This feature works in Google Apps too.

As Gmail rolled out a migration tool for new users last month where other email user able to migrates email and contacts from other email providers, including Yahoo!, Hotmail, AOL, and many more( see the list here ). You can able to get messages to your Gmail that forwarded from your old account for 30 days, That migration tool was only for new user til now but it's available for all Gmail users whether it's a new account or existing.

This is a major step from Gmail. As all people do have email accounts in other service like Yahoo Mail and AOl and it's to hard for all to switch over with new Gmail because as time goes your email subscription become vast and you can't remember all the websites you subscribe or contacts that have your old emails ID so because of this it's to hard to switch over with new email

Google do provide tools so you can get your mail from other accounts in Gmail using POP3 or you can setup a IMAP with your mail client or server. Further ahead Gmail also allow you to set up your old email as"Send mail as" where you can "Reply to emails" by using your old email Ids so you don't have to go to your old account for replying the email but this can't solve the problem. These are the tools allow you to handle your emails from Gmail

But user who having free mail accounts with Yahoo and AOl not able to use"IMAP", "POP" or "Forward Email" feature. For them it's to hard to switch to Gmail and mostly people do use these webmail service and many times we need some old emails to read that time we need to login to these old services to get the email.

Gmails new migration tool solve this problem entirely. When you switch over to new gmail or your existing Gmail just go to Settings > Accounts and Import > there just provide your old email details to Gmail like email id and password and transfer your entire Yahoo Inbox or AOL Inbox or any webmail that supported to Gmail. As Gmail stated that it take time to import all emails over to your Gmail. It depends how many emails you have in your old accounts. Once the process completed after that you never have to go to your old accounts for getting the emails and you can search the emails within the Gmail interface only and still you able to get the emails over to Gmail from your old account for 30 days. that's not all it also takes your entire contact list to Gmail so you don't have to loos your old contacts too.

This entire Importing process is powered by Esaya Inc.'s TrueSwitch so now It's much easier to make the transition now that you can bring along all your old email and contacts from other email accounts.Reblog this post [with Zemanta]
PubSubHubbub protocol, which turns feeds into real-time streams and recently Google Reader has started rolling out support for PubSubHubbub and readers like FriendFeed, Livedoor Reader (a feed reader popular in Japan), and FavIt already support PubSubHubbub

So what it means?

When you post in Blogger, your posts will surface in real time in Google Reader or other that support this protocol. Best of all, your blog is already broadcasting updates so you don't need to do anything to enable it, it will appears in real time in above readers. See the demo in the Embed Video.

All blog post feeds now contain a "hub" element, and will ping Google's hub on every post update. If you're a developer writing code to monitor feeds and want to get updates efficiently in near real-time, you just need to detect the hub link and subscribe to the hub server. Then, sit back and let the hub push updates to you.

Brad Fitzpatrick and Brett Slatkin who worked on a 20% project with the Blogger team to add this support

This is one of many features announced as part of Blogger's 10th birthdayReblog this post [with Zemanta]

Today Google Announce a very good freebie for Google Voice Users. In addition to making free long distance calls within the continental US, Now Google Voice user able to call Canada for free through Google Voice. This feature was there in GrandCentral previously, and Google Voice user already able to make free calls to other Google Voice users without any charges. So Enjoy your free calls to Canada via Google Voice.

To get started. You can initiate calls from your online Inbox, our use a brand new mobile apps from your mobile browser, or by dialing your own Google Voice number from one of your phones and selecting option 2 to place a call.

You'll notice your labels in a new location on the left of your inbox or on the right, for those of you using the Arabic, Hebrew, or Urdu versions of Gmail. Instead of having their own section, your labels are now above your chat list, grouped together with Inbox, Drafts, Chats and other system labels.

(Gmail Labels with Drag & Drop Support)

You now have control over which of your labels show. Gmail get you started by automatically showing the labels you use most and hiding the rest. Label hiding is my favorite new feature, since it saves me from having to look through labels I rarely use. If I ever need to reach any of my old labels, I just click the "more" link.

And I can easily view latest emails & for that I don't have to go to labels for see the new emails. I just need to put particular "Label" under the left side of my Inbox. This feature allow me to keep on eye, on new emails that attached to labels that important to me.

One of the biggest changes is that users will now be able to drag and drop messages into labels like folder style. In other words, you can sort your messages much the same way that you would add them to folders like other webmail system doing.

To label or move many messages at once, first select the messages and then drag and drop the label. It's also possible to drag labels into the "more" menu to hide them and vice versa. If you only want to move a couple labels around, According to me, It's much faster than going to Settings but If you want to make a lot of changes at once in bulk, go to the Labels tab under Settings where you can edit labels.

Google is also removing the "right-side labels" feature from Gmail labs. For those of you using the Arabic, Hebrew, or Urdu versions of Gmail are getting the "right-side labels" feature by default.

Google rolling these changes gradually& these changes also made way to Google Apps emails too,

(Blogger.com showing Google Ads on posting page status)

Google's blogging service, Blogger is turning 10 in August. But while Google provides users with tools to publish Adsense ads on Blogspot sites and which can certainly help the company raise a fair bit of cash from all of those blog posting (like we do), But that's just optional for everyone & that's the beauty of blogger platform. And that means, some users are using the Blogger platform for free without generating any real revenue for Google.

Now Google stating to showing ads on Publish status page. The ads showing on the page when blogger publish a post. These ads will never visible for your blog readers, but there's a chance that some blogger may click on that ads. It's not that every time Google showing ads, that's what I found. It appears sometimes only. Normally at the time of posting, Blogger was showing tips related to Blogger.com but now they also do show ads so Google just found a another way to generate revenue.

You can now have your YouTube account automatically update your Facebook friends, Twitter followers, and Google Reader shared items when you upload a video. YouTube add OAuth support for twitter accounts, Connect your Fecebook Account via Facebook Connect and also add to your Google Reader shared items.

Find all these link to your YouTube Upload page where you can connect your existing Twitter, Facebook and Google Reader account. YouTube called this feature AutoShare which share your upload instantly to these social services.

But remember to do that your Google Account needs to be linked to your YouTube account in order to use AutoShare. Sorry but i could not able to find a link that how can we merge the both accounts. If any one know that please let me know.

Everyone wanna share their photo moments with others & the batter the image much the pleasure to watch the photos. I use Picasa to manage the photos on my computer in part because it's the fastest way to manage all of the pictures I take. when you move your photos from the desktop to the web, you have to choose between viewing high resolution photos that take forever to download, and tiny photos that lack any detail.

When you chose to show large images, the very biggest can fit into your browser window. If you open up a slideshow or full-screen view, that can fill your entire monitor. But the thing is that can be a cause for interrupt browsing and user not able to get smoother photo browsing experience. Of course Picasa can use smaller images to make the Internet faster , so Picasa team went deep into the code and gave it a thorough tune-up, and they just make their code smarter.

Now Picasa user can browse large images or fullscreen mode much batter then before. Of Course large images are important, because seeing a photo's little details can make a big difference in photo browsing experience, and result of that now picasa web albums handle large images much faster and batter.

Give full-screen mode a try to see even bigger photos. If you've got a reasonable connection to the Internet, you should be able to hold down one of the arrow keys and zip through the entire album at a pretty good clip, flip-book style. Of course, while you could zoom past entire albums at ludicrous speedbrowsing photos is significantly faster

Some information is easy to find. If you want to learn the rules of golf, you can search Google for [something and we'll return a list of relevant web sites right at the top. But not all your information needs are that simple. Some questions can be more complex, requiring you to visit ten, perhaps twenty websites to research and collect what you need.

Google Squared, a new feature just released in Google Labs, to help you batter search.

Google Squared is an experimental search tool that collects facts from the web and presents them in an organized collection, similar to a spreadsheet. If you search for Cars, Google Squared builds a square with rows for each of several specific roller coasters and columns for corresponding facts, such as image, height and maximum speed.

While gathering facts from across the Internet is relatively easy for humans to do, it's far more difficult for computers to do automatically. Google Squared is a first step towards solving that challenge. It essentially searches the web to find the types of facts you might be interested in, extracts them and presents them in a meaningful way.

This technology is by no means perfect. That's why Google Squared to be conversational, enabling you to respond to the initial result and get a better answer. If there's another row or column you'd like to see, you can add it and Google Squared will automatically attempt to fetch and fill in the relevant facts for you. As you remove rows and columns you don't like, Google Squared will get a fresh idea of what you're interested in and suggest new rows and columns to add. See it in action in the video below:
