In emails, spammers try to trick with the emails so they can get sensitive information like userid passwords. Banks websites and other important sites like Paypal do take steps to kill these spammers fake emails. Some website try to inform user that not to open up links from emails and try to open the links from the browser so by mistake you do not landed to fack sites. some people do use programs like Iconix that verifies the source and approve that is the email authenticated or not but here website have to join their programs. It support outlook and other webmails like Yahoo, Gmail, AOl etc.

Another program called domain keys that developed by Yahoo is also an effective tool to fight against fack emails. If a website implement the domain keys then the email in yahoo will show you a lockpad which is insuring that the email is authenticate and from the original domain. If you subscribe to eBay or Paypal emails then you will able to this feature in Yahoo mail.

( Identify the eBay email with the key icon next to authenticated messages)

Now Google also implement same feature in Gmail via Google Labs. A feature called"Authentication icon for verified senders" which displays a key icon next to authenticated messages from certain senders that spammers attempt to fake. This icon is similar type with Yahoo mail's Domain keys lockpad icon and I think it works also on the same Domain keys technology which authenticate the email source. Currently works for mail from PayPal and eBay only

To do that just go to your Gmail lab settings and enable "Authentication icon for verified senders". It's a very good step from Gmail. by this user will able to identify original emails and fack emails. I guess soon Google will add other important websites with this security feature and may be it will encourage Google Apps user to use Domain keys for email communications, after all it counts in best email practices.
