Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 will be commercially available on October 22nd, 2009. you can either buy a computer with the loaded operating system or buy a boxed version of the software to install on your existing computers.

Microsoft is hopping that holiday shopping season will get more shoppers for Windows 7, and an October launch may be the right time. But if you're having a very old computer, then it looks like you're going to have to stick with Windows Vista, XP, OS X, or Linux.
