When you have Gmail on slow connection it is difficult to get the Inbox so fast. Gmail takes time in loading on slow connection. Other option is you can switch to basic HTML version but there you'll not able to use all features of Gmail & Gmail Labs so may be it will kill your productivity.

But if you bare with the loading problem when you're on super slow Internet connection like dial up or on 2G mobile and after spending to much time on loading you landed to Gmail Inbox & you come to know that there are no new emails, then the disappointment is larger when you find out that there is nothing new to read and you could have saved all that time, after all you spend minuets for it.

Sometimes people do end up checking the mail only to find nothing new there so to solve this , Gmail created a new feature in Gmail Labs called "Inbox Preview. While Gmail is loading, it shows a plaintext viewable version of your ten most recent message with subject lines. You can’t interact or open the messages but it will show you a snapshot of your latest 10 new messages, If you have any.

People having high speed connection won't able to notice this thing because it only shows up when Gmail is loading but people who having slow Internet connection , for them it could be handy for sure. Turn it on from the Labs tab under Settings, and if you're on a slow connection you'll know from the start if it's worth the wait. This feature is also available for Google Apps Users.
