Today Google Launches directory of OpenSocial Apps with verity of 12505 apps available.
Google is behind the OpenSocial & it's vs Facebook Platform which is also a successful for developers and users. Here OpenSocial can gain much more development because it aimed to give developers a common& Open environment that application publishers could develop & publish widgets to with one set of code, deplorable across Google sites, MySpace, Hi5, Netlog, Orkut and numerous other social networks.
Right now OpenSocial having 12505 Apps in the portfolio led by MySpace 8620, Orkut 2517, H5 1252, Ning 249 & Netlog with only 10 apps with different category like Business, Dating, Music, Video, Photos, Utilities, Sports, Travel, Games & Events
OpenSocial would allow for user data to be transmitted from one site to another. But it's not data portability that all thinking. It's just App portability that developers can deploy in different websites. Of course open Technologies like oAuth, OpenID are adopted by leading companies so OpenSocial.
Lots of things are happening via OpenSocial. Google led the Google Friend Connect & Google profile which is created on Open Social Platform.
