After closing down projects like Google Notebook, Dodgeball, Twitter like service Jaiku, Catalog Search, Google Video now there is one more in line to join them in the Deadpool: Google Shared Stuff.

Google Shared Stuff, the social bookmarking service will no longer be available. Google shutting down it by the end of March. Google Shared Stuff was used to share videos at Google Video and Knol article but it was underdeveloped. This service has never been officially launched. Shared Stuff combined different ways to share pages with other people: by email, social sites like del.icio.us or by adding them to a public page.

all of these cutbacks were reportedly based on a lack of revenue, which makes sense. But one does have to wonder, after taking jaiku in $12M why a serious effort was never made to let Jaiku compete in the growing micro-blogging market? While Twitter may have been an impossible chase, the association of the Google name should have been worth something. And if it wasn’t, the original acquisition would seem to be a poor business decision. Bad economy, or no bad economy.
